Borrowed words

Filed under: Uncategorized — denise @ 7:25 pm

This is an interesting meme – and sadly, I can’t remember which blog I was reading that had this in it, if I could I would give credit… if I think of it, I’ll post the link.

Create a poem or story using a line of lyrics from your favorite songs.

The blogger’s poem that I read had the song title/artist after each line… like this:

Once I had a love and it was a gas     (Heart of Glass, Blondie)

but I can’t leave you with a bad goodbye.  (Bad Goodbye, Winona/Clint Black)

And I found the whole thing sort of interesting in a one-liner kind of way, but it totally did not read like a poem.  So, I’m going to just write my poem of borrowed lyrics and list the songs/artists in order in a key at the bottom.  Yeah, man?

Yeah.

EVERYWHERE.

One day you’re going to have to face the deep, dark, truthful mirror

And it’s gonna tell you things I still love you too much to say (1)

I keep on laughing to keep from cryin’ … (2)

Now, I could never change you, I don’t want to blame you

Baby, you don’t have to take the fall. (3)

What if you should decide that you don’t want me there by your side? (4)

Loving you is all I know. (5)

I can still remember just the way you taste (6)

Lips like sugar

Sugar kisses (7)

I don’t care if you don’t want to bother with me, baby. (8)

Your kisses are wasted on me. (9)

I told you I was trouble

You know that I’m no good… (10)

Scratched and bruised, a little used, but baby I work fine

You might call me damaged goods but I’m one of a kind (11)

This is the last honest love I’ll ever give (12)

And so it is, just like you said it would be (13)

I am your tragedy and your fortune

I am your crisis and delight (14)

You ‘aint seen nothing like me, yet… (15)

And now that I found you, you hold me like a prayer

You touch me

Everywhere. (16)

  1. Sometimes you are just way to smart for me and I feel small and insignificant. But, I will accept your challenge and see what happens.

Thanks for challenging my brain and making me thnk outside of ‘Am I late for work? Did you poop or just fart? What is for dinner? and lastly, Did I put on deodorant today?’

Bless you for remembering we are more than the minutiae of our lives!

    Love,
    Gab
